D.C. Wedding Photographer | Katie & Ryan!

Taking a quick break from editing a recent London engagement session (blog posts from that trip to come soon!) to share one last wedding from 2016. I love every opportunity that I have to work as a D.C. wedding photographer, and Katie and Ryan’s gorgeous wedding was no exception!

One of our favorite parts of the day is the getting ready stage, and it’s particularly awesome when your bride chooses to get ready in a nice big room with lots of lovely light! Katie chose to get ready at La Meridian Arlington, which is one of our favorite getting ready hotels ever! Perfectly crisp sunlight and tons of room to move around = photographer’s happy place 🙂

There was even a fun place for a few detail images!

I could’ve shot in front of this window all day!

Once Katie was ready, all that was left was to get that adorable baby of hers dressed, and it was time to head off for the ceremony!

Katie and Ryan’s ceremony was at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church, Virginia on a perfectly crisp fall day.  As a D.C. wedding photographer, I have had the opportunity to photograph at several different lovely D.C. area churches, but this was my first opportunity to photograph at St. James. Not too shabby, eh? 😉

I just love this series of Ryan seeing Katie for the first time as she came down the aisle. The expressions are fantastic!

Love the expressions on their way back down the aisle, too!

After the ceremony, we headed to Cherry Hills Farmhouse for the reception, and Katie and Ryan and I went for a short photo walk around the venue before getting the party started 🙂

We found so many lovely spots on our photowalk. We found the final spots of color for this fall season…

and a little after dark, even a beautiful candlelit porch! There was much photographic goodness to be found at this venue!

Photowalk completed. Time for dinner, drinks and dancing!

And then the party began!

We have had the opportunity to work with some of Katie and Ryan’s friends in the past, so I was quite at home while surrounded by past clients and friends! (Side note from amber: Will and Nick are totally two of my favorite grooms EVER!)

So, like I said… we’ve hung out with this crowd in the past…and they might win the award for the most professional partiers. I mean, these guys can rock hard. All night long. It’s pretty impressive. And honestly? You never know what you might see. At one point there was a pitcher of some sort of liquid. On the dance floor.

And then this happened…

Yeah…I have no idea, but it was definitely epic. Love partying with this group so much!

The reception wrapped up, but the party didn’t stop there. We headed to “the only Irish Bar in Arlington” for a bit of laid back after-partying…it’s always nice to end a long wedding night with a beer with friends!
